Jonathan Mooney, dyslexic author and activist, to speak at New River Community College

Jonathan Mooney, international lecturer and author of Learning Outside the Lines, will share his personal struggle with learning as well as his educational mission for those who learn "differently" at New River Community College (NRCC) on Thursday, October 26, from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. at Richardson Auditorium in Rooker Hall.

Despite the fact that Mooney did not learn to read until he was 12 years old, he eventually graduated from Brown University with honors. In his presentation at New River Community College, he will chronicle his difficult educational journey from academic failure to Ivy League graduate through his message of personal empowerment, academic success, and educational revolution for those who think and learn "differently."

Mooney is currently the executive director of Project Eye-To-Eye, a nationally acclaimed program for children with LD/ADHD. The organization's mission is to partner with colleges to bring college students with LD/ADHD into the lives of elementary-school students with the same learning disabilities as role models, mentors, and tutors.
